HSIMA: terms and conditions

Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Inc is a non-for-profit, community-led organisation, which works in partnership with Victoria Police with the aim of preventing crime and building stronger, more connected, communities. 

The How Safe Is My Place program has been developed as a courtesy to the community and for education and awareness purposes. The recommendations for improvement are based on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles which are widely recognised in the security, law enforcement and architectural industries, and on advice from Victoria Police and other key agencies.

Any person who:

  • does the How Safe Is My Apartment quiz;
  • follows the security tips contained in the personal report accessible to people who complete the quizzes; or
  • uses the recommendations and suggestions contained on the How Safe Is My Place or Neighbourhood Watch Victoria websites; 

acknowledges that it is not possible to make areas absolutely safe for the community or make their property totally secure.

Neighbourhood Watch Victoria hopes that by using these quizzes and the app, and learning what you can do to improve security around your home or property, that criminal activity will reduce, and community safety and property security will increase.

While every effort has been made to incorporate reasonable means to reduce the opportunities for criminal activities to occur, there is no expressed or implied guarantee that the “place” or property will be free from criminal activity if these suggestions are followed and implemented.

Neighbourhood Watch Victoria acknowledges the 38 mobs, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate, live, and gather as employees and volunteers. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
