Winner: Colin Bates (NHW Manningham)

We are pleased to announce the Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Award of Honour to Colin Bates for his remarkable contributions to Manningham NHW since 2010. As Area Manager, Colin oversees nearly 40 volunteers and has led the charge in organizing Safe Plate Days and distributing crime prevention materials. His innovative problem-solving and dedication to volunteer management have been instrumental in maintaining NHW’s operations. Colin’s involvement in community events and his leadership within the Manningham NHW Management Team has strengthened the group’s efforts to reduce crime and increase safety. We are proud to honour Colin for his unwavering service.

Winner: Ruth Fleming (NHW Banyule)

We are proud to present the Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Award of Honour to Ruth Fleming for her 38 years of exceptional service to NHW Banyule.

Ruth has served as both Treasurer and Area Manager, playing a key role in promoting NHW and managing finances. Her leadership has enabled successful community projects, including providing safety vests for primary students and personal alarms for residents. She also single-handedly ran the NHW presentation at the Eaglemont shopping centre for four years, reaching hundreds of community members.

In addition to her NHW contributions, Ruth volunteers extensively with Red Cross Victoria and supports the Melbourne Football Club at the MCG museum.

As she steps down from the executive, Ruth will continue to serve her community by delivering newsletters. Her dedication has made a lasting impact, and we are honoured to recognize her years of outstanding service.

Winner: Cathie McMaster (NHW Greater Shepparton)

It is our pleasure to recognize Cathie McMaster with the Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Award of Honour for her decades of tireless service to NHW Greater Shepparton. Cathie’s leadership as President and her commitment to crime prevention, including Safe Plate Days, have made a tremendous difference in her community. She has formed strong partnerships with local service groups and actively worked to improve the safety of vulnerable populations, including the homeless. Cathie’s enduring dedication and innovative ideas have greatly enhanced community engagement, and we are honoured to celebrate her outstanding contributions.

Winner: David Moran (NHW South Mitchell)

We are proud to announce the Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Award of Honour to David Moran for his 15 years of dedicated service to NHW South Mitchell. David has played a pivotal role in organizing community events, including sausage sizzles and clean-up initiatives, demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment. As the Catering Coordinator, David’s meticulous planning has ensured the success of numerous events, fostering a strong sense of community. His willingness to go above and beyond, along with his ability to inspire others, has made a significant positive impact on the safety and unity of his neighbourhood. We are thrilled to honour David for his contributions.

Winner: Lynn Rawson (NHW Banyule)

We are proud to announce the Neighbourhood Watch Victoria Award of Honour to Lynn Rawson, a true community champion whose tireless work has had a lasting impact on her neighbourhood.

Lynn has served as the Corporation Secretary and Editor of the NHW Newsletter and e-news while leading important safety initiatives like the promotion and sale of Personal Alarms and Ultraviolet Marking Pens. Over the past five years, Lynn has sold 3,500 alarms, contributing immensely to the safety of the community.

Lynn’s leadership and dedication have inspired many. She actively engages with local groups, such as Rotary and Elderly Citizens, spreading the word about Neighbourhood Watch and crime prevention. As an integral part of the NHW Executive Committee, she has successfully recruited new members and continues to push community initiatives forward.

Her innovative efforts, from creating safety programs to promoting crime prevention through newsletters, have made a remarkable difference in the lives of the Banyule community.

We thank and applaud Lynn for her outstanding contributions to community safety and leadership.

Neighbourhood Watch Victoria acknowledges the 38 mobs, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we operate, live, and gather as employees and volunteers. We recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community and pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
