How Safe Is My Place?

During the pandemic our lifestyles and how we live day to day has changed for many.

And that change has also impacted the nature of crime. Residential burglaries have been declining though the proportion of aggravated burglaries (burglaries that occur when someone is home) has increased. Police report that with far fewer people on the road they are seeing an increase in unsafe driving.

As we come out of the pandemic, with the massive impact that the lock-downs have had on business, it is anticipated that there could be an increase in residential and motor-vehicle crime, to align with an increase in the under- and unemployed.

Most crime is opportunistic. The potential offender sees a low risk and high reward, and goes for it.

In this free webinar (presented on Zoom) we will share the simple things you can do to minimise that opportunity and keep your property and family safe.

The webinar is hosted by Neighbourhood Watch Boroondara, Banyule, Whitehorse and Manningham.

How to spot and stop scams

Over $12 million per month is lost to scams in Australia. And that’s just what’s reported to ScamWatch. Only 10% of reports list that money has been lost – so imagine how many more scams are actually occurring.

Scams can occur online or off.  The most common sort of scam is a telephone scam. And scams are the number one crime concern for Victorians.

In this free webinar (presented on Zoom) we will sharing tips on how you spot a scam and protect yourself from them. The presentation will cover phishing scams, unexpected “wins”, ATO and Netflix scams, fake tradies, fake invoices, and much more.
